As part of ASCE’s devotion to advancing professional knowledge, the ASCE SunCoast Branch is proud to offer the ASCE SunCoast Branch High School Scholarship. Up to $500 will be granted for one calendar year. The scholarship is renewable, at the discretion of the ASCE SunCoast Branch, based upon continued academic achievement, involvement in local or student ASCE chapters, and other factors. Renewal applicants must submit a new application each year to be considered. The amount of the scholarship awarded is dependent upon funds available. Scholarship funds are intended for tuition and tuition related expenses only. The scholarship is available to students pursuing an education in the field of civil engineering.
The successful candidate will:
Have a permanent residence within Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, or Hardee County
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
Complete the application form (see reverse side)
Submit a personal essay on why the applicant wants to become a civil engineer. The essay shall be typed, have no less than 250 words and no more than 500 words, and should highlight any long-term goals and plans.
Submit a copy of the applicant’s most recent High School transcript.
Submit a copy of proof of acceptance to a college or university with an ABET accredited engineering program (if not available at time of application, the application may be accepted without this item; however, the scholarship committee may request that this be provided prior to awarding of the scholarship).
One complete application package containing one original of all items listed above must be postmarked by May 26, 2023. All items must be collected by the applicant and sent to the scholarship chairperson as one complete application package. Application packages missing any of the above items (except for “proof of acceptance” as noted above) will not be considered.
