Provide essential value to our members and partners, advance civil engineering, and serve the public good. In carrying out that mission, ASCE:
Advances technology
Encourages lifelong learning
Promotes professionalism and the profession
Develops civil engineer leaders
Advocates infrastructure and environmental stewardship
As part of ASCE’s devotion to advancing professional knowledge, the ASCE SunCoast Branch is proud to offer the ASCE SunCoast Branch Civil Engineering Scholarship. Up to $1000 will be granted for one year. The scholarship is renewable, at the discretion of the ASCE SunCoast Branch, based upon continued academic achievement, involvement in local or student ASCE chapters, and other factors. Renewal applicants must submit a new application each year to be considered. The amount of the scholarship awarded is dependent upon funds available. Scholarship funds are intended for tuition and tuition related expenses only. The scholarship is available to undergraduate students pursuing an education in the field of civil engineering.
The successful candidate will:
Have a permanent residence within Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, or Hardee County
Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
Complete the application form (see reverse side)
Have completed 30 hours of college level classes. The 30 hours of credits should include Calculus I and at least one technical/engineering class.
Submit a personal essay on why the applicant wants to become a civil engineer. The essay shall be typed, have no less than 250 words and no more than 500 words, and should highlight any long term goals and plans.
Submit a copy of the applicant’s most recent college transcript. An official copy must be submitted by award winners prior to receiving funds.
Submit a copy of proof of enrollment for the upcoming semester to a college or university with an ABET accredited engineering program (i.e., tuition bill, class schedule, acceptance of transfer letter, etc). If not available at time of application, the application may be accepted without this item; however, the scholarship committee may request that this be provided prior to awarding of the scholarship.
One complete application package containing one original of all items listed above must be postmarked by July 25, 2025. All items must be collected by the applicant and sent to the scholarship chairperson as one complete application package.
