This presentation provides an overview of Sarasota County’s recent population growth, future projections, and the county’s response through infrastructure improvements, disaster recovery, and community development initiatives. It highlights major road repairs, capital projects, affordable housing investments, and long-term planning efforts to support a growing and resilient community.

 About the speaker:

Jonathan R. Lewis, ICMA-CM, was appointed County Administrator for Sarasota County, in January of 2018.

Lewis and his wife have two children and have lived in Sarasota County since May of 2011.

Before his appointment to County Administrator, Lewis served as the City Manager for the City of North Port, where he served from May of 2011 to April of 2017. He served as the Deputy City Manager of Palm Bay, Florida, from August 2004 to May 2011. He also served as the Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Belleair.

Lewis is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He earned a Master of Public Administration from the College of Arts and Science at the University of South Florida. He has completed the Senior Executive in State and Local Government Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

He is a Credentialed Manager (ICMA) and a full member in good standing with that association. He previously served as President of the Florida Association of County Managers, Florida City/County Management Association, the Space Coast Public Management Association, and the Suncoast Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration.

Lewis currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of County Administrators.
