About the Speaker:

David O'Brien is a co-founder and president of SurvTech Solutions, Inc., and has over thirty-one (31) years of experience in the surveying profession. He is a professional surveyor and mapper licensed in eleven (11) states, a Certified Flood Plain Surveyor, and a Certified Federal Surveyor.

Topic (1 PDH/CEH): 

The presentation will cover all the platforms and sensors that surveyors and mappers use today. Platforms will include LiDAR collected from tripods, automobiles, boats, ATVs (all-terrain vehicles), backpacks, handhelds, USVs (unmanned surface vehicles), UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), helicopters, and airplanes. Sensors will include terrestrial LIDAR scanners, mobile LiDAR sensors, aerial LiDAR sensors, and SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) LiDAR sensors. Also, there will be a discussion of imagery collected simultaneously with the LiDAR and how color and multispectral imagery can supplement LiDAR. Almost every LiDAR sensor is paired with a camera for imagery collection. Imagery can range from nadir (downward facing) to oblique, multispectral, and hyperspectral. The presentation will also discuss how LiDAR and imagery can be integrated with other geospatial data.
